Product Reviews - Burning my Skin

From Johanna over at One Girl's Thoughts on Life

True to form, when I try a product and it lets me down, I tell the company. This works both ways (in case you think i'm a meanie), if I try something that I really love then I also contact the company to tell them how much I like it and why.

A few weeks back I tried a 10.0.6 face mask (strawberry)

It resulted in this message from me:
I purchased your pore- be-pure mud mask and after about 15 seconds
on my skin it started burning and stinging. I immediately washed it off. My
skin felt very sore after. I then took the mask to my friend and asked her
to try it and she had the same problem. Perhaps the formula is too strong? I
am always looking for good pore products because I have enlarged pores
around my nose and cheeks so I would be sure to try again if the formula was
changed.

The reply?

Dear Johanna

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our product.

The mask you tried does often incur some tingling. The sensation should not however be
uncomfortable. As we do not know the
exact condition of your skin it is difficult to provide you with an exact
reason to your and your friends' reaction. We have had some other customers
that have experienced a similar sensation and appreciate your feedback. We
will take your feedback on board look into the formula in the near future.

In the meantime as a token of our appreciation for you taking the time to
contact us we would love to send you some other products from the range to
try. One Smooth Operator is a Pore Clearing Face Scrub that lightly
exfoliates the skin and draws out impurities.  The micro pumice particles
exfoliate and unclog pores and oat and zinc help to absorb excess oil.  Also
with anti-irritant, anti-oxidant and soothing properties - it is gentle on
the skin and does not contain active ingredients.

If you would like to try another of our masks we would also love to send you
Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask. Containing natural ingredients
such as Orange and Bergamot, this super-cleansing detox mask recharges and
balances for a clearer, brighter complexion. I hope this mask is more suited
for your skin type!

If you would like to send us your full postal address I will get these
products to you as soon as possible.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Marketing Assistant

I of course said HECK YES! (never say no to free stuff)

I got these babies in the mail a few days later

I have only used the scrub on the left once and it was nice. The detox mask on the right is SO NICE! I've used it 3 times and liked it more each time, it smells delicious and leaves my skin feeling so yummy.

Product Reviews - Sleep Ease Blend from Le Esscience

By Nikki Bollen from Multi-Tasking Mummy

I started using the Sleep Ease Blend, at Gillian's suggestion. I am a very restless sleeper, after 9 months of pregnancy and then a further 9 months at least of waking 3+ times a night, almost every night, thinking I had smothered my baby (who wasn't even in the bed) as well as 18months post-baby of back troubles, I was getting a bit past the point of being over tired. This is a record of my first 7 nights.

Night 1 - I woke up feeling not the best, but I know that it will take awhile to kick in. Also, I only had about 6 hours sleep due to being up late working, so this was never going to help. I was also apprehensive about using a new product, which made me a little edgy.
Night 2 - I woke up feeling a little better, I know I slept more soundly last night that I have been, but the difference was only mild.
Night 3 - I didn't wake up the entire night! I know this because I am shocking at checking my phone everytime I wake up, and this time there was a text on my phone that had been there since 11.30 the night before. I was much more productive today, I got heaps of housework done and my mood was a little better.
Night 4 - I actually woke up not feeling like I had been hit by a truck today! I had the house tidy before morning tea time, and my little boy got a lot of playtime out of me.
Night 5 - I went to bed at a reasonable hour, and didn't wake until 8.30 when my little boy decided to wake up. This is the most sleep I have had in one block in well over 2 years.
Night 6 - I went to bed really late and was so tired that I forgot to use my Sleep Ease. Whoops.
Night 7 - Used a little more of the oils tonight, more under my nose. This seems to have helped a little and I had another great nights sleep.

Bring on more good nights sleep, I might start feeling like an energetic mummy again soon!

The National Army Museum, Waiouru

Honour the sacrifices, learn the campaigns, be inspired by the stories of courage, loyalty and comradeship.
Make a visit to New Zealand's most comprehensive Army Museum for access to a unique collection of military exhibits, memorabilia and public research material. A place where families can seek out and relate to their military connections. - http://www.armymuseum.co.nz/

On our way down to Wellington last weekend our 19month old decided at the start of the Desert Road that he was not keen to stay in the car any more, and spent the entire Desert Road telling us all about that.

We made it to the Army Museum and thought, "what the heck, always wanted to go here anyway" and so got out and made our way inside. We stopped off at a couple of tanks for D to have a climb and a play, he had a GREAT TIME.

To be honest, I wasn't really expecting a whole lot. It doesn't look like a huge building from the outside and when we got inside and found it was $15 per adult, or $30 for a family, I wasn't sure that it would be worth it.

I was so wrong. We enjoyed this much more than we did Te Papa (that's another blog post though!), it was well worth the money and detailed the history of NZ at war, both within NZ and overseas. We managed to spend almost 2 hours there, just perusing the different sections and taking lots of photos. Even our little man enjoyed himself, there was lots to look at and the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful.

A favourite of mine and hubby's would have to be one of their temporary exhibits (until June) is the NZSAS - In the pursuit of excellence exhibit. All about the NZ Special/Elite Forces.

The little man's favourite exhibit I would think was the Kids Zone, where there is even a bunker to crawl through, a video playing, educational resources and a whole lot of army dressup clothes and plastic guns. Awesome!
I would definitely recommend stopping in next time you are passing through Waiouru, well worth the visit.
