Classic Flyers, Mount Maunganui

Posted by The Spy

We recently purchased tickets to go to Classic Flyers at Mount Maunganui, via a deal on "Grab One". The deal was 2 adults entry into the museum, as well as 2 breakfast/lunch meals and 2 small drinks.
It was a grotty blah day when we got up this morning, and we had bribed our 2 year old that if he slept through the night last night, and didn't get mummy or daddy up, he would go on a special adventure today. He loves planes, so this was somewhere we have been dying to take him.
I had it on good authority that it was an ok place to go in the rain as it is pretty much all undercover, so we chucked our 8 week old into the front pack and away we went.
When we got there, the cafe was absolutely packed! We wandered past them all and went into the museum. As we entered the lady on the counter said as it is raining and they can't display their outdoor exhibits properly, we were welcome to keep our receipt and come back another day to have another look as well. Great news!!!
I'm not a huge plane/military etc fan personally, but even I thoroughly enjoyed having a look around. There was so much to see, and there is plenty of planes that you can actually get in to and imagine you are a pilot or in the war etc. They even had little ride on planes for the littlies to play in, which went down a huge treat.
Awesome "Fluffies!"
After walking around the hangar a couple of times, it was off to the cafe. If I'm honest, if we didn't have the voucher, I'm not sure we would have purchased any food as it was a bit more expensive than our 1 income family can afford, however that said, when we got our Bacon and Eggs, hot drinks and a side of fries and a fluffy, we were completely satisfied at our selections. Excellent food, the hot chocolate and mochacino and our little man's "Fluffy" were excellent, and all staff we dealt with were very friendly and welcoming.
Yum! Tasty Hot Chocolate
If you live in Tauranga or are visiting some time, I would highly recommend a visit, it was a unique place to go, the service was great and food was excellent. All in all a great outing!!

A Chilly Sunday at Tauranga McCafe

Chilly Sunday at McCafe

This afternoon Hubby and I decided to have a break from cleaning out the house and take Dex to McCafe. We ordered our $6 Combos - Trim hot choc and a berry cheesecake for me, a Cappucino and Cheese cake for hubby, and ordered a mini muffin and a fluffy for D. The fluffy was only 50c so we were expecting something tiny and ridiculous. Well, in the picture below, the fluffy is the bottom drink. It was the same size as our drinks!! Crazy. So all up, everything we bought cost just over $13. Stoked.

Then we took him out to the playground, and timed it just right, there was no one else out there, so he got to play in the big kids part, not just the toddler area! He loved it. We were expecting him to have a big sleep when we got home, but alas, no, he hasn't slept a wink. **sigh** at least he had fun though.

Excellent service at "High Tea", The Sebel Hotel, Tauranga.

Today myself and a couple of friends attended "High Tea" at the Sebel Hotel in Tauranga. We had gotten ourselves vouchers to make it half price and thought we would give it a try.
We went in there not expecting a whole lot, but you know what? It was EXCELLENT!! The service was great, beautiful atmosphere, the drinks were nice and the food was just AWESOME.

Now we don't claim to be classy by any means of the word, however we got ourselves all dolled up, put on some makeup and away we went. We were treated like we belonged there, from the minute we walked in.

I would highly recommend giving this a try to anyone,  and we thought before going, that it wouldn't be worth it for the normal price of $20 per person, but you know what? After actually going, I would love to go back and do it all again, even for the normal price!!

Free "Fluffies" at Esquires cafe in Tauranga

STORY BY NIKKI-NOO IN TAURANGA

So this will be a quick review for my first post, but yesterday Hubby and I took our 1 year old son to Esquires Cafe, in the Goddards Arcade in Tauranga, so that he could try his first ever "fluffy"

When we got there, we received EXCELLENT service, and were told that we could have a free fluffy for our son when adults are purchasing something. This in itself was great news, although we expected a cup with just some fluff and nothing else.

We received our drinks and food, and out came the fluffy. Needless to say our son was estatic to have his own drink all to himself, and the girl that bought it out explained it was very weak hot chocolate underneath a whole lot of fluff, with chocolate powder sprinkled on top and a couple of marshmellows, all in a cute little cup.

Well, there is a couple of photos below. It was a messy experience, but he had a great time and the fact that the food and drinks there are a little on the expensive side was more than made up for by the excellent free fluffy!

Excuse our son looking a little tired, he was way overdue for a sleep by then!
